Anthropomorphics
"The study of the measurement of the human body in terms of the dimensions
of bone, muscle, and adipose (fat) tissue."
We experience Anthropomorphics on a daily basis. Sitting in a wheelchair, laying in our bed, and even the way we stand. Pretty much everything we do involves Anthropomorphics.
Tempur-Pedic beds are a great example of using Anthropomorphics to create a comfortable sleeping environment. Because of the ability of the material to conform to the shape of our bodies, this allows all of our pressure points that are most susceptible to causing us pain to be correctly supported.
While standing in line at the DMV, it is common to see people supporting their weight on one leg and looking down at their phones to pass the time. This example of Anthropomorphics shows that the posture of the woman standing in line would eventually cause her discomfort.Because of the importance in creating a comfortable and healthy environment through the design of furniture and our posture, Anthropomorphics is a key factor in a design being successful.

For those who are required to sit in wheelchairs, Anthropomorphics is used to support the hips, back, and legs so that it is not uncomfortable for the user. This is especially important for elderly users because their joints are more fragile and in need of extra support.
